I'm right there with ya.... but I think it's more than that there's an irrational fear that the hard core conservative GOPers seem to have that makes them believe anything spewed by conspiracy nuts. There a whole group also still in deep fear that he's changing "Their christian nation" some of that must come out of the race difference, and some from the sheeple factor many of them seem to have but it's bringing up an irrationality that is being magnified by the media. I'm seeing the worst of it in Facebook "poll" discussions. They bring in every dislike they have from school prayer being a sign that the gov is attacking x-tians to the birther conspiracies, gun rights, and every motive is paralleled to Hitler...
Yep, people are batshit crazy. The irony of these statements about Obama when you consider the policies we suffered through for 8 years before him is apparently entirely lost on them. Obama ignores the constitution? Riiiiiiight. And wow, yeah, what a controversial message he delivers to school kids. "Work hard, stay in school, etc." Oh yeah, man, that's some crazy Nazi shit right there.

I'd like to be able to just ignore these people. Alas, they make up a scary percentage of our populace. Gack.
I don't think you're spinning this right. I think you put this message in a print ad with the tagline: "If there had been was a public health care option, this person would've gotten the help they need."
