Springtime pretties (aka scenes from the Philly Flower Show), pt 1

I finally got to cleaning up enough pics to post. My mom and I got almost 120 pics between the two of us using her camera and I'm going to post the top third or so over the next few days. A lot of these were taken with no flash, as the lighting worked better that way, so they might be a tad blurry (and not as crisp as I'd like). I Paint-Shopped ( Read more... )

zomg! You're in the Deleware Valley area too!?

I went to the Flower Show the day it opened. It was gorgeous! I always start on the right wall with all the big exhibits and work my way toward the individuals later. I theorize that my feet will hurt enough by the time I reach the vendors, and I will therefore get tired and not buy as much. It never works.

I like the big exhibits, but I've always preferred the small gardens. The first thing that popped into my head when I saw that one was "JJ'd love this!" Glad I'm not alone...

The test-tube garden was sooooooooo neat! I just wish there was a way they didn't have to be all cut...

Also, I took about 65kajillion pics of the show. My camera ran out of batteries though, and I had to use my phone...

Yup, Bryn Mawr, though formerly of Doylestown.

Oh lucky you - getting to see the show while everything's perfectly fresh must rock. Though I'm amazed they get everything to last through the next week at that.

Ditto on the pathway through the exhibits, though I never tend to buy much. I was hoping to find a nice bouquet like always, but the selection was especially weak this year, it seemed. And Kremp's started dying their roses?! Blue and metallic colors - wtf? I remember 5 or 6 years ago you could select fresh individual flowers for a bouquet, though that ended fast, and all the pre-wrapped bouquets ever since have barely lasted 5 days.

The test tube garden was impressive. I'm not usually a fan of the avant-garde stuff, but that had great design sense and the flowers really lasted.

Camera batteries never last long enough at that show...
