I was about to suggest a Pratchett, but I don't know if that's also your ideal comfort book-fodder...

My comfort books would be Georgette Heyer and now my new craze, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's Liaden universe books. I've been reading two at a time, one on the tablet for in the gym and one as the upstairs book. And Heyer's Spanish Bride for downstairs. That last is not as cosy as her usual ones and is more army and war history than I really like.
