Baby Budgies and snakes and tractors

The three budgie babies are doing great. The two oldest are going to be my favorite color: light yellow recesive pieds. I had a feeling because Phage and Dewdrop were like that and they and they had white babies which blew my mind. Now I have Protist and Peep which are white and I know both have yellow in them somewhere so I knew I'd get yellow ( Read more... )

I guess that means that either Protist or Peep is a double factor yellowface. They can appear white, and would have all YF babies when mated to a regular white. YF is the one series of budgie genes that I don't understand, and it drives me crazy. The best test mating I can think of right now would be to mate Tesla or one of his green siblings to a blue budgie with no YF in its background at all. If that bird had white babies, you would know that Peep is white, and Protist was the double factor YF.

I do have a sky blue hen but I have no idea what her background was as I caught her from the wild. Once protist and Peep are done I could set them up and see if they breed. Oh wait I don't think I have any green males. I'd have to mate one of the green hens since I don't want to breed Tesla. BUT he's probably ready to breed as he always mates with his mirror constantly.

It doesn't matter the gender of the baby from the Peep/Gaus Girl pairing for test mating. It only matters that you use a green baby, since you would know that any white or YF is definitely from Peep, since the green came from the Gaus Girl.

Lol! Now with the Mr Burns stage I imagine the chick rubbing its little wings together and saying "Excellent!"
Aww that snake is so cute! I think we only have two kinds of snakes here. One is the venomous Adder and I think the other type we have isn't venomous.
I love the tractors, we have loads round here though I'm thinking yours are bigger.

Yeah. They're so funny with that hair. It's also the fuzzy butt stage.
That's good you have only one venemous snake. We have six. But at least that's good compared to like Australia.
Me too. I'd love to drive one.

I love your baby birds. They're so cute!

And that corn snake is so pretty. It would have been a good pet, seeing as it was so friendly. But we can't have him getting at your birds!

I love those daisies behind those tractors. They are the same colour scheme! We have some African Daisies out on the sides of the roads here (a weed) and they look just the same. So pretty!

Aw, Chris is such a good partner to get you a water tester. What a good husband!

Thanks. Love my baby budgies.
He has nice colors though not as much black underneath as some. I think he would have made a nice pet. But I'm having a hard time feeding my own snake as it is so I really shouldn't have another one.

Those are our native wild sunflowers. I love them. I want them in my front yard.

Yeah, he's very sweet. I'm greatful.

Yeah he had nice red colors. That's why they're sometimes called Red Rat Snakes. I love this time of year because those sunflowers are everywhere.

Cool pictures! The corn snake is surprisingly pretty. I'm used to just seeing all black snakes or snakes that are black with a stripe on the side. But as long as they aren't rattlesnakes or copperheads, I don't complain. They eat the mice that would otherwise infest the garage or house, so I'm happy to have a few of them in the yard ( ... )

He neat red patterens. We get the black racers here too. Black with stripes are probably garters. I love gaters but have never seen any in all the houses I've lived in. Rodent control is always a good thing.

Thanks. I hope that test kit will arrive soon. I'd like to set up a 20 gallon and keep my 10 gallon around as a quarantine/hospital tank. I can't wait to order my tadpoles but I want to make sure my water is set and ready to go for them. I'd love to keep two goldfish in the 20 gall. Too bad they require so much space.

I've read having an algea eater with goldfish isn't a good idea because they suck on the goldfish and remove their slime coat. Goldfish are compatible with very few species because they are a cold water species and so dirty.
