I am loving Bill's relationship with his cat, Bella. She's like his best friend! For a moment, I had my suspicions that Bella would end up reincarnating as Tom or something, but I do enjoy this! I couldn't help but giggle at her being jealous of Tom getting all of Bill's attention.

It's so interesting, seeing two different sides of Bill's life; this merciless side of him that is seeking revenge on those who hurt him and killed his mother, and the friendly side of him who gets along with Tom, and sells potions that he's created to help people. All he wants is to be loved and accepted for who he is.

Bella is totally Bill's best friend. :) Best friend and familiar, and Bill is hers, darnit. Then this Tom guy comes wandering in, and, hmph, she's just going to go over there and wash her tail.

Bill is wonderfully faceted. One side is who he WANTS to be, and the other side is who he's been FORCED to be. He'd like to be sweet and helpful, but it's not an option he was ever given.

Bella is just wonderful. I swear my heart skipped a beat when Bill found her dead. She has such a personality, and I am so glad Bill was able to bring her back. (Her jealousy of Tom was hilarious) I love that we get to see what Bill's life could have been like if he grew up in a less superstitious village.

Bill's heart broke finding Bella dead, but it let him tap into another well of power he didn't know he had, so in a weird way, it worked out. Sort of.

The worst that can happen is they'll just burn the house down again and he'll have to rebuild again. At least this time there'd be no one left alone inside.

Oh god, and here's where it gets wicked. I felt so badly for Bill, but at the same time, this is where he began to perpetrate evil himself, in his need to lash out and have revenge.

"This was how things should be," I really feel for Bill. He never could have fixed things in the village where he grew up, though, so I wish he could have left bad enough alone and simply departed. ._. But then we'd have no story!

You write the story so believably, from Bill's dual sides of kindness and retribution; to Tom, the kind doctor seeking only to heal people, and finding a great deal more than he's bargained for. I worry for both of them.

Yep, in a way, a lot of it is his own fault. He could have turned the other cheek, again, but he hit his breaking point and everything escalated. They could have just relocated, but, yeah, then Tom wouldn't have come in and the story would have been shorter and totally missed the goal of the prompt. ;)

Oh dear, it's like he has a split personality, now; he's turning into quite the little psychopath, our Bill :(

He's like a two sided coin. Really, it's all Bill, just what each situation warrants. He's not going to go out of his way to be nice to the people who've done nothing but hurt him, but he's also not going to be mean and vicious to the people that have been kind and accepted him.
