For those wondering, the UK Census Customer Services are advising trans people asking questions regarding the 'What is your sex?' question to answer with the gender you identify as, whichever fits your identity best. The question is asking about the gender role you live in, not your 'biological sex', it's also nothing to do with having a Gender

Oh brilliant, thank you for this! I was wondering how to answer that question. I did consider ticking both boxes so it's good to know that that is an option.

It's ridiculous how there's inclusion for same-sex relationships in the census but nothing for Trans folk or differently gendered people at all.
