So I got a new name book yesterday and I think you'll find some of the entries interesting. And by interesting I mean hilarious.

...before Pokemon, that is always what I associated the name 'Cyrus' with. It was always some hick-type name to me, the sort best pronounced with a heavy Southern twang (I have developed a moderate Southern twang from living in Texas, and admittedly I pronounce his name 'Sah-russ' when my speech gets lazy).

Needless to say I was a little wigged out at the futuristic clothing and the spiked blue hair when I saw what this guy looked like.

It's such an old name...I've met a lot of Pokemon fans who'd never HEARD it (save for Miley, but then it's a surname and that's a little different).

Yeah, exactly - the fact that the name was so old (not to mention old-fashioned, as I consider there to be a pretty large difference) is what threw me. I don't disagree with the usage of it at all, it just kind of inspired a lot of "...really? Huh..."

...about the only complaint I have with it is the fact that it lends itself so well to lazy pronunciation, but that's a problem with me, so. XD I try to catch myself before it happens, but once in a while that above pronunciation slips out, in all its facepalm-worthy glory.

Well, on the other hand, it suits him to have a name that indicates far greater age than he actually has given that it matches his looks.
