I lost track of a fic in which the Autobots explain the Cybertronian reproductive cycle to their human allies. This is the version in which older Cybertronians who want to take care of a new Cybertronian build/buy a chassis, the AllSpark puts a spark into it, and the new Cybertronian is naive and forms a strong bond of affection and love with the older Cybertronians who care for it and teach it how to live.
In other words, every time a Sector Seven experiment was terminated, somebody murdered a terrified, disoriented child.
