That was simply glorious. (What I just read here was exactly what I was thinking with this prompt.) I can never help but think as Motormaster being the type to give only respect to those who can match wits with him. Begrudging respect, yes, but respect nonetheless. Jazz in this case was more than up to the challenge it seems, and look at that, he was rewarded. ;) Heck, though, even kissing is a battle of wills with Stunties... Guess that's why we lov'em though. Lovely job, you, this was quite the enjoyable read.
I was actually thinking more people would expect the reverse of this prompt- Motormaster having dealt with Jazz's type before for this prompt. Jazz was playing Motormaster the entire time, pushing buttons and flipping switches till he got the reaction he wanted. I had to take the conscious connection with the rest of the Stunties away or the truckformer would just use them as a crutch and hold out longer. I kinda laugh when I watch their introduction scene in the cartoon. They don't have much in the way of loyalty, especially Dead End XD
*squees* What an excellent story! I love the dynamics between Jazz and Motormaster, how he comes to grudgingly respect Jazz, how Jazz breaks through his defences and then that kiss at the end, delicious!
I think the quality of Jazz that Motormaster would respect is his ability to command the situation, really without ever issuing an order. He doesn't treat Motormaster like he's an idiot but a semi-rational thinking being that can draw conclusions, and that conclusion is, I'm making you a deal, and it's a good deal in comparison to your other options, so I highly suggest you take it while it's available.
*nods* Yeah, Motormaster, to whom being in control over a situation and others is so important, would definitely recognize and respect that ability in others (though grudgingly.) I like that they are both very strong mechs and really get to have a battle of wills in this story.
