*It takes a while for his personality component to properly synch with his databanks, considerably longer than it takes for the CR to release him. He gives Cyclonus a slightly confused glance, before looking over his shoulder at his rotors.
When he speaks, his voice is staticky and weak, and nothing like what he expects. The CR has only partially reconstructed his vocal processors.*
Apparently the job the CR tank did was less than complete.
*Cyclonus has no idea why--he is really going to have to learn more about the operations of that thing, there have been entirely too many nasty surprises.
He picks Vortex up and puts him face-up on an examination table, lifting it up so that he can look at Vortex more easily.*
Other than the rotor and the vocalizer, is anything else still broken?
//If that was a serious suggestion, perhaps you don't need any subordinates.//
*He supresses a shift in the pitch of his engine. It isn't jealousy exactly - and he still can't bring himself to believe that Cyclonus would lower himself enough to interface with the Terrorcon - but something like it. Sinnertwin appears to have managed something that Vortex has been trying to attain since their first encounter in the Nexus, and it really gets to him.
He considers making a break for it, but there's nowhere he can realistically go. Well, apart from certain Autobots, and none of those are any match for Cyclonus.*
*He stays still, not actually wanting to frag up Cyclonus' work. He isn't sure how much Cyclonus knows about vocalisers, but Hook and Scorponok are nowhere to be seen, and besides it means that Cyclonus has to get really close. An optic-full of antennae is nothing to object to.*
*Cyclonus knows a fair amount about vocalizers, although mostly not ones quite like Vortex's. And one thing about working with Sweeps is that there was almost always spare parts to hand, better than the ones they have here and now.
Cyclonus carefully puts the new wires and connections in place, disconnecting some of what the CR chamber managed in order to put what needed to be there in place.
The task is absorbing enough that he briefly forgets about trying to figure out the situation with Sinnertwin and Vortex, and his tenuous control over either of them.*
*Cyclonus is, in fact, close to done. He finishes, looks his work over, adds a few more bits, looks it over again, and then, finding it sufficient, closes the panel and puts the laser scalpel away.
With luck, this one will last longer than the last one did.*
*Vortex looks up sharply, then relaxes as he sees who it is. He certainly is in one piece - one subtly vibrating, highly satisfied-looking piece.
He's laying face down on the berth, his hands around his rotortips, his engine plinking as it cools. If he had the capacity to feel guilty about such things, he would certainly look it. But he doesn't.
*It takes Cyclonus a few moments to figure out what what Vortex has been up to and why he looks so satisfied, but it's really pretty obvious once he thinks about it. After all, it's more or less the equivalent of walking in on Cyclonus with his hands on his antennae.*

*Cyclonus locates some tiny wires and relays that should, at least, help him get the vocalizer into better working order and returns to Vortex.
I am serious about your need to stay still right now, however.
