IDW Perceptor
The calm silence of the woods was shattered as a shot fired and shattered the boulder that had been its intended target. Birds scattered as the boulder crumbled and fell to the ground, the area going dead silent once more after the birds distanced themselves

Another Perceptor is quietly watching from not far off, head tilted and a thoughtful expression upon his features as he watches the almost ritualized motions of his counterpart. Perceptor is quite the skilled shot - but really only with his own scope/light cannon. Place an actual gun in his hands, and he is really no more skilled than anyone else.
Perhaps his counterpart would be willing to teach him some of this calm and confidence with a seperate ranged weapon?
"I would classify the division to be when said activities endanger yourself or others," he replies as he approaches. "I have always enjoyed my occupation; perhaps that is why I have never really considered it to be work, as it is an activity which I prefer to perform, even when given the option for other pursuits."
"I suppose," he adds quietly, "that may factor into my lack of even casual associates over the years."

Ceasing his actions as he registers another presence seconds before his counterpart begins to speak, Perceptor pulls away from his rifle some as he turns his head to acknowledge the other properly.
"A good way of looking at it," he murmured with a nod, pushing himself up off the ground so he's sitting, rifle still resting in its place. "I have never not enjoyed my occupation..it just....once the war began, my experimenting was all for a purpose. All of my personal experiments were forgotten, put aside in favor of ones that would benefit the soldiers. Not that I particularly minded but.." Perceptor shrugged, pulling a knee up as he hooked an arm around it. His helm tilted a bit.
"I am sure you have more casual associates than you realize, my friend."

Perceptor nods sympathetically and settles to a seat beside his counterpart. "Something quite similar occured to me as well. It has really only been in the last two decades that I have been granted more freedom in my project selection," he explains, and then smiles at his counterpart, perhaps just a little bashfully.
"Yes, I am coming to realize that here. I, ah... in my home reality, I did not have the luxury of such understanding friends. My associates there were perplexed by my eagerness to remain in my laboratory, and often confused by my speech."
He sighs and looks downrange at the boulders the other had been firing upon. "It does beg the question, however: is there some fundamental malfunction in my behavior that I have no... 'past time' beyond my work? They used to believe so, I think."

"Being here is nice for that exact reason. Much more freedom, to a point." With his time being consumed with finding another substance to help Kup, his freetime was limited but for once he didn't mind.
He listened to the other and frowned a bit, not interrupting until his counterpart was done. The sniper leaned over some to bump shoulders with the other scientist, shaking his head.
"There is nothing wrong with you. Perhaps you were just not in the right company. How many other scientists did you have around you? Do not think so poorly of yourself. Be proud of yourself and, if others cannot understand, that is their own fault," Perceptor rambled a bit, at some point leaning against the other in full.

While Drift was currently racing down the track that he found, he could feel a feeling of unease, shock, apprehension, shoot very quickly across his bond with Perceptor.
"//Percy, are you alright?//"
His concern filtered back across the bond, it was more than likely something minor but he just wanted to make sure. He slowed down his pace just a bit so he could focus on waiting for his mate's response.

A gentle squeeze was given to the hand that had entwined with his, Perceptor forgetting to think really as he just became absorbed with the kiss...
Only to be interrupted by a sudden tugs at his bond.
//Drift! I--yes--you see--\\ Pulling back from the kiss a bit, his optics flickered. //...One of my counterparts...kissed me.\\

Perceptor sighs into the kiss, relishing those small bits of contact, of connection, until he feels the other withdraw. His optics also flicker, slowly brightening back to full as he refocuses on his counterpart.
His counterpart whom he has just kissed.
His counterpart who is involved with Drift.
He kissed...
That inner calm shatters as he begins babbling all-but-unintelligible apologies to the other scientist.

He couldn't have heard that right...could he? Speaking through a bond was clear as day but this couldn't be right.
"//Wait, say that again. I don't think I heard you correctly.//"
