Just one bunny that would be awesome to see other people's take on it

Aug 29, 2009 13:56

I've run across fics and bunny ideas of Datsuns, Lamborghinis, or both being some form of ground based seeker-kin or just being seekers who got reformatted into ground based forms. Well my mind decided to combine that in a different way. Specifically ( Read more... )

datsuns, lambos, creators, youngling, seekers

But if both of the Lamborghini and Datsun models are juvenile Seekers, why are there two different models? Wouldn't there be only one model for young seekers?

I put both because of the fact that people either go datsun or lambo in these sort of ideas of ground based seekers. Though having both could be used like a cultural thing maybe? Like ranks or such? The thing is with this fandom is that you could play around a lot with what model types and what they mean in society for them.

Even though realistically I know they made like models due to toyline restrictions and such (Since it probably took a lot to be allowed to use a car model for the toy and such) but to put it into the fandom mytho I just find it fun to wonder why only certain model types seem more abundant then others and what that would mean in the hierarchy of society ( ... )

It's why I think I like this fandom so much, because so much of it is up to fan interpretation when it comes to everyday life and all things off screen.

Right, and considering how even in canon there is a push for the flight capable due to the war it wouldn't be too much of a stretch that the only reason why there isn't a youth training camp or such of seekers for the war is because neither side has actually seen the younglings before and just assumed that the model types would look the same as the upgraded models. Because seriously with all the emphasis on air tactics going on you'd think both sides would push for more air models then what they did if they could get a hold of more that weren't already on a side.

So much crack potential to be had or even serious with some funny in it.

(It is interesting, just working out the backstory makes me go -_- since I'm one of those types who like to put reasoning in such ideas and how to slide it into normal canon reasoning. Even if it would make explaining the Negavator incident a pain. ( ... )

You know Datsun's could become Seekers and Lambourghini's become Coneheads.
-Laughs- Sunstreaker wouldn't be amused in the least.

No, he so wouldn't. Unless he could be the prettiest conehead ever.

You know, I think I prefer the idea of the Datsun's being young Seekers (proto-Seekers?) than the Lambo's. It's the wings.

I'm also adoring the idea of the proto-seekers in question not KNOWING they were Seekers until recently. :D

So long as I'm here...

I've come across mentions of "flightless Seekers" and "Seeker-kin" before, but I don't know where they originated. Could someone explain it to me please? The thing that's throwing me off is that Seekers, by definition, are Decepticon jets. So saying "flightless seekers" is a bit of an oxymoron, and I have no idea what to do with "Seeker-kin".

Clarification - or at least a link to the original bunny - would be superb.

The wings get me too, I added the Lambos in the idea after seeing a few fics of the earth trio being reformatted from seekers to Lambos.

I love that part, because the fun you can have with reactions and having them get used to the idea.

I haven't gone far enough back to find it either. I haven't seen the flightless seeker one, but the seeker-kin I see used as the phrase for groundbased models that have seeker programing, but aren't really seekers. Like if you put two different races of humans near eachother and after a while they start to mix which makes a new classification amongst the group even if you can't really tell the difference on a cursory glance.

That actually makes pretty good sense, and it's something I can relate to. I live in the US, but I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia until I was almost 15. It's a different situation, but two different cultures coming together to form a unique third one? That, I can relate to.

In Ante_Luce's fics, being a seeker isn't so much a matter of your frame, but your coding, culture, language, code of conduct and such.
It was explained in one fic that Vos and Praxus were once one city (or maybe twin cities?) and all citizens were considered seeker-kin, and they were one big happy family until politics happened.
Flightless seekers were those who had all of seeker programming except the flight protocols. They don't fly, but they still form trines (Prowl,Smokesreen, Bluestreak), and have a private language that no no-seeker-kin can understand.

I don't know if all above was Ante_Luce's original idea, or was it borrowed from somewhere else. (If so, I'd bet it was from bunny-farm).
If you're curious about more detail, check out her stories. They are great and very neatly cataloged. I recommend tags 'datsun trine' and 'flightless' for a start.

First of all, this idea? WIN.

Second of all, just in case you haven't heard of it already, if you want heavily Seeker-centric fic explaining a lot of questions in the above comments, go read sanjuno's Nine Rings of Vos. It's epic, it's awesome, and it's unlikely to stop anytime soon.

And as far as I can tell, sanjuno's the one who came up with Seeker-kin and Seeker-cant and any related terms. She even has a dictionary-style post explaining all of the terms on her page, but you have to go into the Nine Rings of Vos timeline to find the link.

Here's the link to sanjuno's livejournal page:

afhadfadf It was just a funny idea I had because you always see fics about certain mechs maybe being underage due to records being lost in raids and such, and then I stumbled over fics about certain mechs being seekers but grounded for some reason and just kinda went Lol mix and match this now.

I'll now have to read everything now because the origin of this was bugging me as I hadn't found any real starting point for the concept and glee epic fics make me happy. Thank you.

No problem!

Er . . . Apologies, but I just realized you'll probably be turned into plotbunny food as a result of exposure to Seekers. Hope you don't mind.

Ehheh, my mind does that already sadly. I've already started working out a Bioshock type story for transformers universe, so I knew I was doomed in this fandom from day one
