The bunnies comes marching in, hi ho. Hi ho.

It started with two things:

A) Some Canon Queen on DeviantART whining how my notes on TF reproduction were wrong wrong wrong and not even remotely cannon, despite it painfully clear that the TF Wiki was pulling a Bumblebee on his Simmons-like attitude...

B)The huge effing pic I LOLed of crowdog66's cat, Emmy. I won't post it here as I've not asked her ( Read more... )

OMG I LOVE BUNNY 3.

I'm a job coach for people with disabilities, and I've seen some absolutely horrendous discrimination out there. It does make the fanfic part of my brain think - in a completely technological/mechanical society, would disabilities exist at all? Could every disability simply be repaired? Would they be adapted around and accepted as just part of life (like movieverse Bumblebee's radio-talker as a communication aid, or Beast Machines Vehicon-style wheels-for-feets as mobility aids, or G1 visors as sight aids)? Or... would those with disabilities be thrown out, like we throw out an obsolete cell phone or strip down an old computer?

Actually, I've come across one story (well, series actually), that addresses this actually. It's a JxP slash series - Animated, no less - so be warned if that's not your cup of tea. But it's wonderfully well written and really gets into the TF's cultural views regarding bot's with disabilities.

Thanks for the link! Tis a fascinating idea on TF Culture :)

Oddly enough, in my Short fan fic 'Thumbnails and Chaos', I write Jazz up as blind. Only he still has his eyes. He was 'born' having limited eyesight and the visor helps him see. The he got his ass almost handed to him by Megatron, which blinded him completely in one eye. He needs medication applied to his optics and prowl does the dirty work.

From what I understand, Jazz being blind isn't that odd a concept - his visor does lend toward that interpretation, after all.

Can I have a link? I'd like to check out your story, it sounds interesting.

The story is at: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4973985/1/Thumbnails_and_Chaos. Mention to Jazz's eye issues happen in chapter 5.

The story's still in progress and still needs a Beta Reader >.< Much apologies ahead of time!

About bunny 8: I've kind of started something similar, though it's a little bit of a cross between what you're after, and a more... mystical sort of magic. I.E. part of it's pulled from the White Wolf Mage: the Ascension game. Wherein magical abilities are as much about the rites and rituals as the actual power. Which is how, at least in the paganism I'm surrounded by and practice at least a little on my own, it's the belief that something will work that gives a working the power it has.

I'm kind of hesitant to post it, mostly because it's not done, but if you'd be interested I can put it up.
