Daaaamn I actually went back to chapter three and reread the message again, now you have me trying to puzzle it out ^_^ I love how intricate and subtle all this is, where what the characters are fighting about isn't what they're REALLY fighting about. Ironhide and Ratchet's fight was intense, and I have to wonder what the fallout will be. As well that last statement "what was wrong with him"...does Ratchet mean himself, or a certain troubled leader?

Excellent chapter, I'll keep pondering that mysterious message until the next installment! :D

*Evil laugh* Mwuahahahah! I so enjoy confusing my readers. ^_^ To be honest, I REALLY wasn't expecting to write that fight going into this chapter. In fact, the segment with Ratchet wasn't supposed to be that long at all, and then Ironhide walked in and it all went downhill from there. ~_^ As for what Ratchet meant...sorry. No revealing yet. You have to keep guessing and theorizing, I'm afraid, which for me is a great deal of fun to read. XD I love to be sneaky...for example, if you go back and reread the segment on Capt. Witwicky, and just as I have him fall into the cavern to discover Megatron...the ground shifted like crushing bones beneath them" ; "ice and snow barricaded by rows of razor sharp icicles" ; "glittered like the voices of stars" ; dragged into a bar room brawl" ; "halo of light that could not penetrate the blacked-out corners." Ha. Me being an idiot. Just ignore me. ^_^

I loved your analysis, through Ratchet, of "I AM":

But what if…what if instead of being nothing, something was everything. To be everything, to have been everywhere at every time, then there was, somewhat counter intuitively, nothing to define that something, since it was not limited.

To be everything was to be nothing.

It made my shiver to think of that analysis being related to something as blood-thirsty as Magatron. You've also got me worried there might be some frightening meld of Megatron and the All-Spark creeping out of Sam's subconcious. I love this story so much. =)

On the other hand, all during Ratchet's study of the message I kept wanting to say Dude, just GOOGLE it!

That was about when I slapped myself on the forehead for my own goofiness. Since then, I have had the best time Googling all the phrases. All I can say is 'Wow'. If the time you spent putting that message together is an indication, this story is going to be amazing. I'm not sure how all the references fit, but I'm having a great time trying to ( ... )

*GRIN* I was wondering when someone was just going to breakdown and Google the phrases--though, of course, in doing so, perhaps I have made deciphering the message too easy? I hope I can still surprise you!

I'm glad you liked the philosophical torture of Ratchet. He wasn't too happy with me in having to do so, but such is life.

Thank you very much--I'm so glad you like it! *squee* I shall do my best to have chapter seven up as soon as possible.

Wow. I just stumbled across this this morning and it's a good creepy, intense fic. I'm not one for reviewing because, generally, I just babble and say how great a story is...so I'll leave you with a request to post chapter 7 asap. I'm hanging on every word.

You have no idea how much love.

Following Clay Marble's suggestion, I Googled the phrases, now understanding why I recognized some (high school English back to bite me in the ass much?). Very interesting subtext, especially the ghost in the machine. Is there room, under those ghosts, for another?

The Ratchet-Ironhide squabble was well done. I like how Ratchet is mistrusting Prime a little, even after all the years of leading them so well, and Prime reminding him of his position was a well-deserved slap to the faceplate.
