Frenzy knew it was a mistake. But he couldn’t help it.

Self-reliance, the Decepticon creed. Trust no one. Depend on no one.

Even your partner.

Frenzy hadn’t meant to become dependant on Barricade. It happened so gradually, so naturally, that he hadn’t noticed.

He first realized how much he needed his partner the first time Barricade wasn’t there.

They’d hit the Autobot’s temporary base. Barricade and the other Decepticons had engaged the Autobots on one side of the complex, allowing Frenzy to slip in and gain access to the computer system.

Something had gone wrong, and Frenzy suddenly found himself injured and trapped behind a computer, pinned down by two Autobots. Panicking, the little mech had done the first thing that had crossed his processor - he screamed for Barricade.

But Barricade hadn’t answered.

Later, Frenzy wondered why he’d kept screaming for Barricade, instead of just calling the others for backup. He’d been hurt, and frightened, and he hadn’t wanted one of the others. He’d wanted Barricade.

It was unacceptable.

Attachment meant dependence. Dependence gave an opening for exploitation. If Barricade ever learned just how much Frenzy needed him, he’d know just how much power he had over Frenzy.

Frenzy was no one’s pet. He wouldn’t become one, not even for Barricade.

He could walk out now, while Barricade was deep in recharge. He told himself he should, now, before he slipped up and Barricade used this - need - against him. But sitting there, watching the still form of his partner, Frenzy found that he really didn’t want to go.

There was just one thing to do. He’d make Barricade need Frenzy more than Frenzy needed Barricade.
