So there's this guy, who somehow, somehow managed to get his pregnant wife to agree to naming their baby 'Megatron' if his page gets one million 'likes' before the baby is born on August 12th. After only 24 hours, he was up to 24,000+. Last I checked, he was at 604,563. It's only been a week and a half ( Read more... )

Still, isn't it worth the click just in case these parents do?

TBH I don't think it's a good idea to burden a child with the name Megatron (or any other wacky name for that matter) :P

Have you seen some of the latest celebrity baby names? Honestly, 'Megatron' is at least recognizable as a name and pronounceable!

(Some actual celebrity baby names: Ickhyd, Thijs, Audio Science, Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo, Fifi-Trixibelle.) Tell ya something, too; if my name was Fifi-Trixibelle, and I had a chance to change it to Megatron, I would in a heartbeat.

Besides, it's very very doubtful Megatron would be this kid's first name, and most likely end up as a nickname for his friends to call him.

What are Ickhyd's friends going to call him? Icky?

Is it bad I have my family conviced that when I procreate my daughter is going to be Optimus Prime?

I would have no problem at all giving my daughter a middle name of Prima.

If my memory is correct there is a person in the community who knows a kid who is actually named Starscream. For reals.

Play dates!

That scares me. One of my children caries the middle name of Fox, because my husband is a huge X-Files fan... even though he won't admit to it. Some fandoms lend themselves to cool, neat, awesome baby names. Transformers is not really one of them

The stupid crap people come up with for their 15 minuets of fame. That poor child, someone call SRS.

If it goes through, that kid's going to have a million people to blame for the therapy he (or she!) will need later in life.... :)

Wild, wacky, and weird should be reserved for middle names.
