Isn't it so great that there are all these awesome documentaries now, for people to organize around? There's a screening every Friday in my town for things like this, and Netflix always has tons of politico documentaries to rent (we noticed that they even sponsored something or other to do with them, and we thought hey, that's pretty cool.) It doesn't really count as one the more hard-hitting and current documentaries, exactly, but we also just saw "The U.S. vs. John Lennon," (which recently came out on dvd) and it was very inspiring to me. Anyway, I'm sure your movie/discussion night will be great, have fun!
we've been considering netflix lately, are you guys members? has it worked well for you? i have that 'u.s. vs john lennon' on my waiting list at the library! i thought it looked pretty interesting. so, it will take a while for me to get it (i think there's about 90 people in front of me) but i'll get to see it eventually (and for free).
that's the thing about the library - it's *free* (netflix, not so much.) But yes, we've been happy with netflix - once you either rent (or rate that you like) one political documentary, they have TONS of suggestions of more of them for you to rent, and otherwise I would have never heard of or seen these others, so even just for that reason it's been pretty good. One time a movie arrived scratched and unplayable, but if that happens, there is a way on the site to tell them about it. To make the most of what you're paying for netflix, you've got to send the movies back right after you've watched them, and they'll send you new ones. If you sit on them too long, you're paying the same but seeing less movies for your $.
