This afternoon I've been reading more of Halcyon, the latest SGA novel from Fandy. I had low expectations after the last one, but even though the author is a Brit *G* he really seems to know what he's doing. Some of the dialog has been a little funky - you know, where you find yourself thinking, "okay, s/he would never say that" or characters ( Read more... )

Hey, don't knock the Brits! ;)

Well, like I said, if you don't mind the britisms (and I suppose you wouldn't *g*) and a few little quirks of dialog, it's very enjoyable. All of the characters, including Teyla, get stuff to do, and I thought there was also a thin undercurrent of Shep/Teylaness there as well, although I may have just been projecting ;) So far it's been the best of the bunch. Like where I'm actually considering emailing Fandy and saying "Stop having Whitelaw write more books and get this guy back!"

Thank you so uch for the rec. I plan on heading out during my lunch hour, and pick it up now. :)

Any other Teyla friendly SGA books?

Not really. Rising, the novelization, had about as much Teyla as the pilot. Reliquary was mostly about Sheppard and McKay, although I don't recall it being Teyla-UNfriendly. The Chosen... well, let us not speak of it.
