So... by your reasoning, freedom is slavery, and giving up more of our liberties to the government somehow makes us more free? George Orwell called. He said 1984 isn't a manual.

Yawn.

Restricting the freedoms of those who would use them to abuse others is how we function in a civilized society.

Unless you think it's a good thing to turn a bunch of rabid bears loose in a room full of babies, under the idea that granting the bears full freedom is somehow nobler than protecting the babies.

Oh right. Rich people might oppress us. You know, because they sit back in their evil lairs plotting how to best stick it to the little guy.

Your worldview presupposes that wealth is a zero-sum game, which is ludicrous at best, and dangerous at worst.

Actually, some of them ARE evil. The ones who have swallowed Rand's objectivist bullshit are perfectly happy to drive the world economy into the ground by bankrupting the working/consumer class for the sake of short-term personal profit. It's not sound economic theory driving their assertions that giving the already-rich more money will create growth/jobs (supply side economics has been repeatedly debunked in the last ~20 years.) It's personal greed that's so intense that it overrides everything else ( ... )
