Athena P. Cat May 1997-May 11, 2009
Athena died last night in Graham's arms at around 11:30 while I was filling out the paperwork at the emergency vet clinic to have her euthanized. We came home from seeing the Star Trek movie, and after about a half-hour, she started yowling in pain. She could barely walk, her eyes were dilated, and her tongue was hanging out. We knew it was her time and we didn't want her to suffer any more than she already did. Graham talked to her all the way to the vet's, and I think she knew how much we both loved her.
The picture above is one of my most favorite memories of Athena. It was taken while we were waiting for Hurricane Ike to hit us. Everyone else in the house was tense, but Athena just stretched out on the couch and chilled out as if she didn't have a care in the world. When the hurricane finally hit, she slept through the whole thing, between me and Graham.
More pictures of Athena below the cut.
This month can stop sucking now.
