Best story I've heard in a long time.

Ok, so the San Francisco zoo has had penguins for about 17 years. There were 46 of them, and they pretty much had a sentinary lifestyle. Maybe one of them would get into the pool, maybe they'd lay around.

Anyhow, the zoo got six more penguins on Christmas eve, and suddenly ALL of the penguins have taken to swimming laps, in unison, around the penguin pool all day long. They don't stop until it gets dark, and then they stagger out to sleep and start the process all over again.

No one knows why this happened, but there are theorys that they're trying to migrate. (Of course, they're probably paranoid by now, "didn't we just see that rock ten minutes ago?") They've been doing this every single day since Christmas eve.

But isn't it sort of cool that a penguin revolution has taken place in the San Francisco zoo? These six new penguins came in and said, "hey, guys, I know that we're in a zoo but that's no excuse not to work out and swim and do what we penguins type do." And all the other penguins said, "Yeah!" and the next thing we know, penguin revolution (literally) around the penguin pool.

Edited because I put the wrong link to the interview. It's hysterical. Also, the zookeeper says that they don't stop to sleep in this interview, the article says that they do.

The interview with the zoo keeper is a riot: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=923754
