A note to the NPR station KUHF

I realize that you have to do the fundraising thing every six months or so. I realize that the method that has worked for you so far has been the pledge drive. I realize that guilt and ransom works more or less pretty well.

It seems to be working, since they've nabbed me twice in the past two weeks. (damn you, All Things Considered, with your insightful election coverage!)

I think we're all going to be so exhausted after election season (and realizing just how much we donated), that it's probably for the best that NPR get their pledge drive out now. Also, since half the audience is going to be bereft no matter what after the election, they might as well take advantage of the atmosphere.

sorry, i don't listen to NPR, but the fundraising reminded i wanted to ask you if you have ever heard of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.

my son has been nominated, and the almost $1900 price tag is causing me to investigate very heavily before i commit to a fundraising campaign of my own, as the organization itself does not give scholarships. just a guide to fundraising.

KERA, the Dallas NPR station, did their fund raising drive two months early so that we'd have the last month pre-election fund raising free. I thought, given the political year, that all stations adopted a similar philosophy.

If it makes you feel any better, they've actually had a lot of international long-form interview pieces the last week or so. I'm now up on my arranged marriages. Check.
