Yes. That! *points*

Also, Cindy McCain's got a bajillion dollars and obviously uses it when she shops. Why not have her "take her friend Sarah shopping"? I think the dumbest part is that they did it with money that they would have to publicly disclose.

No it's not. She's wearing EXACTLY what the people she's talking to think a woman in her position should wear. Of course she's more wealthy than the average person; she's the governor of a state and that pays a little more. Of course she's wearing nice clothes; a) she's followed the American Dream to fruition by hard work and grit determination so she deserves to be rewarded and b) it would be insulting to the American people (especially the people she's talking to) if she didn't look good.

Looks matter, and in Sarah Palin's case, they're one of the few things she has going for her. Of course she's going to emphasize them. And she's not doing it in a flashy way. She's doing it exactly how a woman with new money would do it. And she's talking to the people who think that one day they too will have new money.

I have no issues with the RNC spending their money to fine tune a candidates image - in fact, I'd expect it. I don't even mind if they are shopping for her family to outfit them as well. I agree, it's an image that needs to be fine tuned for how they wish to present her and it's money well spent in that regard.

Agreed. I thought it was stupid to make a big deal over John Edwards' $400 haircut and I think it's stupid to make a big deal over this. It distracts from the issues. Candidates need to project an image when they're plastered all over TV and billboards and the internet. Those nice suits cost real money. And it's not public money, so who cares?

As long as it's not coming out of my pocket and does not break any ethics laws (like that would stop her), I have no problems with this. Sadly, in this TV age, looking good is part of the battle now.

No one really mentions the fact that well-made women's clothes cost a ridic amount of money.

Obama, McCain, and Biden can wear the same suits four days in a row and as long as the tie/shirt combo is different, no one notices.

Although, yeah, when so many people are ridiculously poor and looking at a shitty future, they could have drastically cut costs by shopping at Macy's and forgetting the Neiman Marcus couture.
