Fuck around with poisonous snakes, and sometimes, they'll fucking kill you. It's not necessarily an unknown phenomena.

Yeah. But take a job as medical profession, and you're likely to spend a great deal of your time treating people who do stupid assed things, or whose health issues can often be argued to stem from their own actions (conscious or unconscious). Does that mean it's okay to make jokes about them rather than treat them? I mean, it seems to me that the family wouldn't be suing had the person been promptly treated, and yet still died. If the family's allegations are supported, then the hospital personnel didn't do their jobs.

I wonder that as well, which is why I have one response if the family's allegations allegations are true, and another if they're not. Joking amongst yourselves is one thing, but in front of the patient, and in lieu of offering treatment is another...

my mother was an er nurse most of her life, and black humor is very normal there -- but not in front of patients, and definitely not making fun of patients in front of them and their families during treatment.
