you have referred to this "shoe policy" more than once, and I am now intrigued, since i have never been faced with such an animal (except for the "you must wear steel-toed boots" policy, which is slightly different ;). What precisely is your organization's shoe policy? And why does it exist? because those? are DAMN cute shoes!!
and yes, the shooting of the people on the Bronze MAY just have made you a wee bit scary. And I vaguely recall shovels....
and last but definitely not least: HAPPY B-DAY, Crianza!!
Originally, the shoe policy was a draconian "shoes are to be closed toed with back support" for women. For men it just said "Men must always wear socks and suitable shoes." There was a mini revolution back in September/October last year, and a "shoe committee" was formed. Pretty much all the complainers were put on the shoe committee to come up with an understandable policy. I was made chair. I successfully argued the policy was unfair on a gender basis and that we should pretty much have the same policy as the men. That was accepted on a temporary basis, though it was sort of meaningless back then because it was the middle of winter (yes, we sort of have winter down here) and the shoes we wanted to wear (open toed and/or mules) weren't in season at the time

Yeah. I could complain. Quite vociferously after more than five minutes in them actually.
