He was waiting for Sandra and her companion when they emerged from the airport. He gave her a warm enough greeting, and a civil one for Doug. It wasn't that he was jealous--well, not anymore. He just didn't like the man. "You're looking well," he added softly to Sandra once he'd gotten their luggage stashed away in the trunk.

She walked up and kissed him on the cheek. It was good to see him, it really was. She slid her arm through Doug's so the silly man wouldn't get jealous--not that he was particularly silly, it was just that all men were. "Thanks, Noah."

"Don't mention it." He smiled and herded the two into the car so they could miss the rush-hour traffic. Doug got in the backseat to talk to the dogs in baby-talk through the bars, if he didn't let them out, Noah thought with an inward sigh. He held the front door for Sandra. "Peter should be home in an hour or two," he said as he got behind the wheel. "He had to stay late at work."

She paused to check on her darling boy before handing the carry-cage to Doug, then took her seat. "Not a problem, sugar. It'll give us time to get settled in, won't it, Doug?"

He murmured an abstracted agreement.
