Droppin' in (RP for girl_ofsecrets)

The idea'd been bubbling in the back of her mind for a couple days. Claire'd sounded so upset on the phone, so alone out there, all the way across the country. She knew what that was like; she'd been miserable the first few weeks of college, all the way in South Carolina, when she'd never left Texas before. But Claire wasn't that out of touch. Claire was home early from work which was nice, it was a good change of pace even if she had basically just returned to work after taking a week off. Things were tense at the moment between Bruce and Hank, she wondered if they were trying to make things work or if they enjoyed the tension at times. Maybe they fought just to make up, maybe that was what they were doing.

She was in the kitchen when the knock came, blinking a bit as she placed the shell of an egg back into the egg container and blinked in confusion. Grabbing the towel, she walked around the table and dried off her hands as she moved out of the kitchen and towards the front door.

Forgetting to peek through the peep hole, she opens the door and finds herself face to face with her mom as Mr. Muggles gives an excited yip at the sight of her. Looking a little shocked, she squeaked, "Mom?"

There was a part of Claire that was excited and relieved to see her mom but a part of her was worried. "I didn't even know you were coming." She moved forward, unable to help herself as she gave her mom half a hug, mindful of the dog, and closed her eyes as she held on her for a second. Stepping back, she nodded as she backed up and motioned, "Come in."

As she looked around, she was suddenly wishing that Hiro was home but it would be easier to face her mom first. Maybe. They walked right into the living room first, the color scheme being white, black and blue with accents of gold. The couches were futon couches, sitting low to the floor along with the side tables and the coffee table. There were bookshelves, quite a few of them, filled with books and different things. The apartment definitely had touches of her but there was blend of masculinity and Japanese touches as well.

"Um, did you want anything? Does Dad know where you are?"

"Well, this looks nice," she murmured, taking a critical glance around the room. At least her little girl was doing well for herself way up here in the frozen, Godless north. She smiled warmly.

At the question, she flashed her daughter a look. "Not... exactly, hon," she admitted softly.
