Um... pretty much everything we have aboard has to be preserved somehow. What's improper about it?

Sometimes there is to much vinegar or the food has been frozen solid and defrosted or too much salt was used.

[To him "overcooked" means "cooked beyond the minimum necessary to make it safe." Which is to say... almost anything cooked at all.]

Well, all the meat's either frozen or cured, and you'll probably say most of the tinned stuff is too salty...

I think the Witches bring down birds sometimes for target practice. I can check if we have any fresh ones around... maybe do something with rice and some of the Arboretum herbs?

Or maybe you should try something totally new. [Laura rummages behind the counter for a minute before producing...]

Well, it might not always be truffles and Pecking duck, but nobody got food poisoning from our "fake" food yet, so I guess it's doing it job.
