[Halfpipe, despite having no fucking clue what she's doing in a library, raises an eyebrow. She's pretty damn illiterate, but you don't need to know that.]

Read it out loud.

[She blinks twice and then-]

"Death."

[his_sweetling]

"Death?" You... don't know what death is?

[adorabliss]

[She flinches slightly, looking flustered and away from the woman.] I'm sorry, w- was I supposed to know what it is?

[ Okay, so maybe this reaper isn't a guy but she sure passes for one every now and then. Even though she's kinda short.

But when it comes to people sneaking around, she can be pretty good at sniffing them out. Of course, help comes in the form of an ermine curled around her shoulder and glancing behind every now and then.

Are they talking? Yeah, maybe.

And suddenly, Shin takes a quick unexpected turn around the corner. ]

[Moé stares at the ermine more than anything-- she can tell a person's gender due to being around girls all the time, but she's never seen an animal before. More like ever, really.

So she goes around the corner, trying not to be seen, at least, until she trips!] Aaah...!

{ and now someone is tapping her on the shoulder, looking a bit skeptical. }

... what are you doing?

Huh? [She blinks twice, looking at the other girl blankly.] I... It's nothing!

[Being the intuitive Detective Cole is, he's used to trailing people and hiding behind stuff. So he stops in place, and speaks aloud without turning around.]

You can come out now.

[adorabliss]

[BUSTED.]

- Eeep! [She then comes out of her hiding place, twigs and leaves in her hair.] I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!

[ptsdetective]

[Now he's turning around, arms by his sides casually.]

Why were you following me, ma'am?

[He's hoping to get some alone time here, but he isn't rude enough to tell her to go away.

Or maybe he should have because he has no idea how to handle this question.]

... You don't know what death means?

[adorabliss]

[She shakes her head, her eyes closed.] I don't! I've only seen this word today!

[paracoitus]

[He averts his gaze for a bit, mumbling a few words under his breath. Eventually he does look back at her with a sigh.]

Death is when someone stops living. Some would say death is the opposite if life, but it's a bit more complicated than that.
