Okay, so Maxine is maybe a little bit bothered by this. Who wouldn't be, after finding out that their world had been destroyed and that more were being destroyed basically every day. And also that the people you knew and loved may or may not be dead but you couldn't check? Sociopaths, maybe.

"It's not like my friends are really dead though, ( Read more... )

Atom flew right up to her, the rocket boosters at the bottom of his boots flaring brightly in the daytime sky as he brought himself into a hover.

"Hi!" he said, giving her a little wave. "What're you doing?"

Maxine let out a noise of surprise as suddenly someone was next to her speaking. Not that she was unused to people flying-- that was pretty normal for her-- but she'd been a bit caught up in herself, so she hadn't noticed him until then.

"Oh, hi!" She replied, voice turning bright. "Oh, um. I guess I was just relaxing. It's kind of nice in here, you know? So I thought going for a fly would be nice." A beat. "What about you? I guess something like that, since you're, you know, here."

"It is pretty nice, huh?" Atom looked around at the alien landscape, brushing his fingers against the top of a tall tree. "I bet this is what people thought the moon looked like. You know, before they landed on it and found out it was a big rock and stuff."

He smiled. "Anyway, I like it here a lot. The City, too. There's lots of room to fly around."

"Oh, maybe," Maxine replied. "I mean, I guess they had satellite images before they actually got there, but there was that whole 'man on the moon' business, too? I guess they couldn't really know what it was like before that though, not really. But it'd have been nice if it were like this."

She beamed a little. "Me too. This is nicer than the city because it's more open and you can pretend you're actually outside, instead of on a spaceship, even if it's not really like home either. There's a lot less trees in the city so it feels less real, I guess."

Black okay?

paragraphs are overrated a_cyclone September 26 2011, 17:15:07 UTC
For shoes or fabric?

I dunno though, I'm not much of a 'black' person. It just seems kind of sad or something. I think bright colours work nicer for a costume like mine. I guess you don't have anything else though?

Shoes. I don't have much, in terms of clothing. If you're looking for a t-shirt or whatever, I probably have some green. Somewhere.

I'm pretty sure the only magic user out there that's a Hot Topic goth is Black Alice. And no one cares about her, anyway.

I will have all of the paragraphs. All of them. a_cyclone September 26 2011, 17:55:35 UTC
Oh, well shoes might work better then! I mean, it's not too hard to make black shoes work with other outfits so I guess that could work. And it's not like I really have other options to work with anyway, right? But the t-shirt sounds good! Green works well for me, and I like it so that'll be nice. I could probably make it more costume-y if you're okay with me doing that. I mean, I understand if you want it back but at least I'd have something to work with until I find something more permanent, right?

Well I'm sure someone cares about her. I don't really know her though. But still, it's nice that most magic users aren't all gloomy since that's kind of depressing. No offense, but I guess it's not against you anyway.

No shoes that'll fit you, but I think I've got some old band t-shirts lying around somewhere.

Oh well I guess that makes sense. A lot of people here must have pretty different shoe sizes so I guess I'm not going to find much for that. But still, the t-shirts would help! I mean, if you're okay with letting me use them. I won't wreck them or anything if you want them back once I find something better to use as a costume since I guess just t-shirts don't cut it for most heroes. I wouldn't want to wreck your wardrobe to fix mine or anything, after all.

hahaha don't worry about it :) i'm sure we can find some better fabric around here and seriously, use them for whatever. they'll be better in your hands than mine.

Great, thank you! I'm sure there's something, yeah. I mean not that there's much, but it's not like there's nothing, either. I hope that I can do something good, so that your shirts won't go to waste or anything.

Having hailed from a world which had been slated for destruction for the past year, Akane Taiyou (or Taiyou Akane to be Western for a moment) found that he was surprisingly okay with the general situation. It wasn't that he was happy, or sad, more like he felt a strange guilt and resented that guilt for being there. By all rights he should feel empty, like he had been.

And at first he found that he hated her, just a little, for rambling to him so openly. But more than that, he felt rather confused and asked the only thing which came to mind, "Who's the flash?" There was an implicit lack of capital letters in his question.

Maxine supposed that was a pretty natural question. She was still getting used to this whole multiple world business (not that she hadn't experienced it before, but in the past there were never differences this drastic).

"The Flash. Like that. He's a superhero, too, like me. Only I guess not like me because he's a lot older and more experienced, and his powers are really different from mine because he has super speed. Though actually there's more than one Flash, but I'm referring to the oldest one, not any of the younger ones there have been. He's really nice."

Akane gave her the slightest of looks. It felt strange having casual conversations like this, going from powers being special secrets to...nothing at all. 'Hello, I can talk to plants, you?' 'I can turn into a bird.'

...superheroes were an odd way of putting it. Would that make him a superhero as well, technically? (He knew some of the other Beast Knights would enjoy it.) "So like Gatchaman or Magical Mary."

"Um, I guess so," Maxine agreed, not entirely sure, and it showed in her response. "I mean, assuming they have super speed like The Flash does. Or else if they're like the mentor-types. He leads the Justice Society, so he's pretty big on the whole 'leading the youth' thing. I always thought that was a really great concept."

"That makes sense," Clef replied, nodding. He felt entitled to assume that, when people rambled at no one in particular while he was trying to meditate, they were essentially talking to him. Why not? She sounded like she could probably stand to babble at someone who would answer back, anyway. "Though your statements about importance could use citations."

"Oh. I guess that's fair enough," Maxine agreed, nodding a little. But someone agreed with the bulk of it, anyway, and that was a good step. Because having someone else say it made sense that her friends were okay was a big comfort. Think positive, Maxine.

"I guess you don't really have context, so it's hard to compare. But I'm a pretty new hero, as far as superheroes go in my world, and most of my friends have been doing this a lot longer than I have. Like in high school I started a fan club for the team on now-- I never would have thought I'd join them later but those things happen sometimes, right?-- and Courtney was on the team even then. So they know what they're doing more, right? So that's got to count for something, at least."

"I hope not," Clef replied, deciding that now was not the time to ask what superheroes and high school were. "By that logic, someone older and more experienced could not feel certain that her loved ones had been saved if none were already awake ( ... )

"Well, maybe," Maxine frowned. "I don't think so though. I mean that's not the only way to say that someone's important right? I mean different people are important for different reasons. And it's not even age for my friends so much as they just know what they're doing more. Like Courtney is actually younger than me but she's a way better hero, so she's kind of inspiring, which is what makes her so great ( ... )
