this is for caishaurianne and my own benefit Please post links/journals you find useful and amusing in the HP fan world-- for purposes of HP analysis etc.. like so

I just ran across Madam_Scoop for the first time recently, so thanks for reminding me of it.
I love how the HP lexicon is like an old apothacary shop, you have to dig around a little bit to find the sweets in the back. I can't believe how quickly they got all the HBP stuff up.
hmm... sad though isn't it? about CoS. It's the format partially, impossible to keep up with more than one or two threads, and because not that many people take the time to read back 10 pages, they tend to post the same thing over and over. :/ Though, I've still found the best threads on mythology and in depth character analysis there.
The people are the ones from the now defuct fametracker. They are passionate about the series and are very articulate and logical about their reasons why. The board is set up rather well, I think - there are different catagories - disscusion in general, fanfic and fanart contributions, and the rest of it.
I must admit, the Lupin/Tonks rather dimmed the lustre of the series for me, and just the portrayal of women in Rowlings world generally depressed this little feminist heart of mine (and if anyone mentions Ginny - to the moon they go!).
I liked your Remus/Sirius/Tonks attempt, but I thought it could have been a bit tighter. I would have said something, but others already stepped in and gave beta services.

I understand the dial up woes. I thought it could have been a bit tighter. I would have said something, but others already stepped in and gave beta servicehell yes, on the tightening it up, I warned you though, didn't I

The Lupin/Tonks, after I had some time to get over the shock, poses some interesting ideas-- does Lupin really dig holding her hand?
I can't say. In the other books he isn't one to be so touchy. According to topaz_eyes, Lupin kinda opened up with Sirius being around, and probably him 'living' was the gift that Sirius gave him? *shrugs*
Is she the pushy girlfriend type? Well, yes. That scene in Chapter 29 says so. She calls him out in front of everyone.
Is she a last grasp at a connection to Sirius? (she's his cousin afterall) More a last grasp at a connection. Period. She offers things which he would be a fool to refuse. She's fairly well off (via her mum's inheritance, I gather), has a decent job, and the rest of it.
Is she a comfort fuck? Perhaps. But comfort fucks tend to be more trouble than they are worth, and he's too much of a wuss to let her down easy.
Is she much tougher than we give her credit for?No. She changes her Patronus in his image (I was with Snape on that one, it seemed a bit... weak). She doesn't focus on her job,

I'm seeing this as the more interesting point: Is she a last grasp at a connection to Sirius? More a last grasp at a connection. Period. She offers things which he would be a fool to refuse. She's fairly well off (via her mum's inheritance, I gather), has a decent job, and the rest of it.
I'm inclined to be more forgiving of JKR, as I think it's her point to make Molly bothersome. She's the typical doting, nosey, mother with no perspective on her sons (Percy, Bill), loving, knits, cooks, likes sappy music etc... She's not meant to be strong in a mature way, like Remus.
It's Remus' detachment and Sirius' emotional outbursts that I identify with, not Tonk's eager to please ways, so it'll take some time to come to grips with what I like about this relationship. It's definitely not going to be an easy one for them both.
ah! yes, Lavender is another good "what NOT to do" lesson.
I think sistermagpie writes the best, most clear-eyed and coherent essays in HP fandom, hands down. Her recents posts on Draco and Snape both went in my memories.

Also, it's so frustrating not to be able to reply in the hierarchal tree type setup that LJ does so well in the BB style chronological ordering.
However, when I want to see what people are analyzing seriously, I'll always head over to CoS forums.

I'm still on dial up though... arrrgh.

hp_essays for essays on HP. *G*
mctabby For her humor, mostly. She gently mocks fandom, but she's not as mean-spirited as deletrius or pottersues
cloudlessnights for your HP Sims needs.
I also like musesfool for her meta on HP (she also writes R/S and James/Lily).
I may come back if I think of more to post.
