Old Buffy Spoilers & Foilers

Nov 21, 2007 19:44

I used to be into spoilers up to about the middle of Season five, avidly digging them up, lurking in the newsgroups and aintitcool and the Bronze. But then decided they were spoiling :-) my enjoyment of the show so stopped looking for them.

Now I'm a absolute spoiler phobe which has its disadvantages in participating in fandom conversations. What ( Read more... )

Well, I can't remember a Foiler right now but back when Buffy was on and we were like 3 ses or so behind I was all about the ep guide. lol.

Well, at least ses. 3. :)

And then for other shows like Alias I was just all about the spoilers but then in the end I just stopped seeking them out because like ya said it's nice to be surprised.

Though I don't seek our spoilers, I don't freak out over em. lol. Though i don't like bein spoiled, if I didn't ask for it.

Yep it was the loss of surprise that stopped me as well. Managed to avoid Alias spoilers probably because I watched in on Dvd after broadcast. Although still got S4&5 to watch.

Does create a problem in this world of downloads though.

lol.

Both aren't bad, but I've only got ses. 1 to 4 on DVD, and most I've gotten as x-mas or b-day gifts. Later on I wasn't so much of a fan I'd spend my own money. lmao.

Is that bad? lol.

Say what? This is news to me -- and pretty screwy news, too.

To me as well which is why I posted it. It is a foiler though which suggests that it was a possibility ME were not going to pursue but thought plausible enough to constitute a legitimate foiler.

Don't know how it would have tied up with the end of S5 but given their record for continuity in other areas figure they wouldn't have minded.

What's intriguing is that it is a late foiler in the run.

The idea itself I find amusing as its so outrageous being based primarily on hair colour and the debate whether in canon Buffy is blond or a bottled blond? I think MKCRL120 has a fic similar to this , but it has Faith as Dawn's sister replacing Buffy. Not seen one with this exact premise set at this time. Cannot find any other details on it as most of the old spoiler sites have gone. When would Faith have given birth, in hospital. Or was there no detail beyond the planted idea. The more likely scenario.

It actually has a lot of angsty possibilities and Faith/Xander interaction depending on what happened to Buffy.

I've actually never heard the term foiler, but I figured it out through context.

Hair color? Well, mine is dark brown and my sister's is blonde ... although granted, she's my half sister. Then again, I have two cousins -- her hair is jet black and his bright red, possibly a throw back to our Irish/Native American heritage. Seems like hair color is a tempest in a teapot.

I'm sure someone, somewhere in fanfic has dealt with this, and you're right -- lots of angsty possibilities.

First time I had heard the term, but it does fit as I remember Joss saying they had put false rumours out there.

I think in canon Buffy is blonde due to the flashbacks showing her blonde as a little girl in S5.

If I cannot find one I guess I'll have to write one as a S7/8 AU. Maybe thats what Dawn is going to tell Xander in the comics? LOL.

Here's The Spoiler That Got me back in Season 7 when I swore off it after Season 6 keith5by5 November 22 2007, 11:08:24 UTC
Well it was a ton of things actually.

1. Faith's return.
2. The First as the big bad.
3. Angel's return.
4. Giles' return.
5. A new type of vampire.

I thought with all that going on, how can it be bad?

Well technically they all came true.

Technically.

Well despite avoiding them in S7 I knew about Faith's return and Spike goign to Angel which undermined the supposedly heroic death. Since they were advertised in mainstream media.

The others managed to miss until broadcast. It was hell staying unspoiled for Chosen not that I needed to bother. I did see one spoiler for the almighty crossover i.e Team Angel plus all the Buffy cast in a big standup battle.

I engaged in all sorts of spoiler based speculation for the beginning of S7 much of which was better than we got.

Yep not followed spoilers for BSG or Lost or Stargate. I really think at some point they're going to need to broadcast simultaneously to all Anglosphere countries as I do not think the staggered release model is sustainable.

You wouldn't think so would you. However not all countries decide to buy programs at the same time. SOme use a wait and see policy.

As for spoilers, I actively avoid them on shows I'm really into (SG-1, Heroes, The 4400), shows I watch with mild interest I don't mind being spoiled for.

Hmmm, that's a new one for me. not sure how they would have pulled it off, continunity wise. Course, considering their track record......

BTW, Gordon Brown still in trouble over the disaster with the nationwide personal information? I heard the requesting party wanted the records cleaned up so it wouldn't have confidential information on it, but was refused on the grounds of cost?

I say right about Brown is really glad there isn't an election this year.

No idea how they would have implemented it or whether they thought it tettered between outrageous and plausible? Yep would have played merry hell with continuity but as you say record....

As for Brown well he is well behind in the polls and we'll have to see how it plays out. There seems to be a trend of total disaster here that horrify the people but the political classes just ignore and carry on regardless. I think the next 10-15 years could see the death of the democratic west unless the voters become so angry to throw out this shower.
