SOPA and PIPA alive again - plus a new bill.

Yeah, that's right. Lamar Smith (the bill's sponsor) apparently didn't get the message, and is now going "oh hey that anti-piracy bill failed LET'S MAKE A NEW ONE". It's called OPEN, and it is going into review or whatever they call it in February.

Yes, I know. We're all sick of this, but there isn't really any option BESIDES taking action. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, folks.

You can read about it here. Actually, I'll rephrase that. PLEASE read about it here. I'd post more info about it, but frankly, this is all I know. Please don't let the lack of an immediately clickable petition link stop you. Don't be lazy, hit up google and DO SOME RESEARCH.

For now? This is SOPA/PIPA all over again. Americans, call your senators that OPEN, SOPA and PIPA will not be acceptable moves if they want to stay in office. (Remember, that's all they care about. Votes. They won't risk doing something to get knocked out of office.) Europeans, call your leaders and and deal with ACTA, the ball's in your court on that one. I'll see if I can find some way for non-American, non-European people to pitch in.

On the bright side, just imagine how aware future generations' polticians will be of this kind of thing!
