When far-off troubles bug me, I think of all the problems that are in my own back yard. If we work on the local level, then all should be good right? Though you may be tied to one more than another, like where your grandma comes from or larger scale more horrific events, the best we can do is good where we are. Goodness spreads :]
True to that, though...I guess what bugged me the most was the fact that I never felt that it was important enough to know or to think deeply enough on what disasters do to people who are faraway or nearby. DD: Indifference is not an acceptable response to disaster events, in my book, so...oh, well. I guess that means I should be glad I don't take things so indifferently anymore.
But, anyways, you're right. Working on the local level is good enough for now.
