OK, there's probably something glaring to do with the physics of the trebuchet that I am missing... But all I can think of is that Tenpou would be sitting in that sling one helluva long time, while he waited for irons to burn through linen and moths to chew through woolen underwear, all time that could be much better spent in Kenren's arms! ^__~ I did find myself wondering if either Tenpou or the author (poke poke) spent too many hours as a child watching Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons!
Very much fun and obviously lovingly crafted, my dear. You definitely deserved your win!
Ah, nothing so mathematical. The problem with Tenpou's design is that moths don't eat wool; moth larvae do. Even if the captured moths lay eggs on the underwear, it's gonna be a while before they hatch and start munching. A long while.
^__~ Speaking of Loony Tunes- that music they used for Rube Goldberg machines was stuck in my head for a week. I actually have it on CD; it's by big band composer Raymond Scott and it's called "Powerhouse," which sort of makes sense when you think about it. He's got lots of fun tunes- "Dinner Music For a Pack of Hungry Cannibals," that sort of thing. But yeah, each time I thought Tenpou's mechanism through, that music started up again. And stayed a lot longer than it should have. A lot longer. Ow.
Heh, my fandoms intertwine once again. Rush uses that piece in one of their instrumental songs, La Villa Strangiata, and I get it stuck in my head every time I hear it there. Their drummer Neil Peart is a huge fan of big band music, he does a tribute to swing music and his own hero Buddy Rich in his drum solo in each concert. I would not be surprised if he is the one that contributed the idea of including that bit in that song.
And those Rube Goldberg-type Looney Tunes were always among my favorite ones. Still are. But then I used to get up early Saturday mornings when I was little before the cartoons come on to watch those shows about how things were manufactured, and I still love "How it's Made." Of course it goes without saying, I was one very weird kid. I also watched the Farm Report before the manufacturing shows - and then, you will love this - the GODZILLA MOVIES!!!
