- I'm suffering from phantom scents the last couple of days. Ever since I moved out of the Midwest and realized I have a mild smoke allergy, I've become very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes (and why is it, by the by, they smell so different from pipes and cigars, which I like?). Really??? This is eight ten kinds of odd/awesome. I'm the *exact* same way.

I have NO idea why that is. Different kinds of tobacco? What?
And it shouldn't be an encultured thing for me. I grew up with an extended family who are predominantly smokers, so I was around it all the time for as long as I can remember. My dad didn't smoke cigarettes, but he did, occasionally, smoke cigars or the pipe (I have early memories of going with him into the pipe shop at our, at the time, only mall in my hometown, and the smell in there was so lovely).
Even now, when I thoroughly despise the smell of cigarette smoke, I enjoy cigar smoke. I almost never see anyone smoke pipes anymore, though.

Cigars are sort of hit and miss for me. Some of them are lovely, some reek. Makes sense if the Google is right. (And let's face it, if Google says it's so, it's the gospel.)
No one, and I mean NO ONE in my family smokes... so, for me to like the smell feels like a guilty secret! LOL

I know, right?
Like I said, he's had bouts of this before. I'm hoping it's just, as mentioned, some kind of laryngitis, maybe from allergies or something. I can't afford for it to be something serious (so unless some other symptom crops up, I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going la-la-la-la).
