They may have forgotten the Organians, but they did remember Cochrane. (: (To be fair, I suspect that the OS writers also kind of buried the Organians.)
Well, I was wondering how the reprises (ST VIII, 'Enterprise') fit this Cochrane into their versions. For 'First Contact', Cochrane was on Earth and hadn't yet invented the warp drive, but he was identified as being from Alpha Centauri in TOS episode--to which Tavella pointed out he couldn't have been born there, since it took warp drive to get there.
I think she looked it up on the wiki and they handwaved or something that he went to Alpha Centauri later. :P
