I wondered if someone here would know-- have there been any major improvements in technology for playing music off your ipod in your car without an audio plug? About four years ago I had an fm transmitter that was constantly getting screwed up by local radio stations so it really only worked when we were driving in the middle of nowhere. We still use an FM transmitter. You get a better signal if it plugs into the cigarette lighter rather than running off of batteries. There are websites that post and rate empty radio stations for major cities. Our transmitter stores three stations, but there's one out here that works consistently despite the Bay Area being pretty dense with radio signals.

This is the model we have. It's not perfect, but it doesn't make me want to sledgehammer the dashboard out of frustration, either:
