It's past 1am in Phuket, and I'm settled into my small bungalow here across the street from Tiger Muay Thai and MMA, where I'll be training for the next week. The bungalow will seem a bargain by first-world standards at about US$230, but I'll be training alongside people who have paid less than one-third of that price to train at the same location ( Read more... )

I don't think any doctor would actually order traumatic encephalopathy. But that's a blog post for another time.

I'd be quite interested in that post. I hope you weren't being rhetorical.

:( Unfortunately I was.

But I will say that I do standup sparring once or twice a week at most now, because I do worry about the potential for significant brain damage. I used to want to spar as much as possible, hard, and frequently. But not any more. And when I get into my late 30s I think I'll likely be a grappling-only guy.
