Over the last few months I’ve done a lot of soul searching. In that time, I’ve had to reassess a lot of friendships, a lot of relationships and look at where my life is going and what direction I want to take it in. Yeah, it's actually quite a relief. I was wanting to do this for a long time but was afraid of offending or upsetting people. If people want to keep in touch, then that's fine. I'll be happy to, but the fandom thing...I think I've just worn out.

All this crap about BNFs and who's talking to whom and the whole nasty situation here in the local circuit has just worn me out. I had a long talk with a friend (not into any of it, but not judgemental either) about it and she helped me put things in perspective. Now I know I'm doing the right thing. :)

Seriously, it's so much better to pull out now than if you waited until the situation got beyond intolerable. At least this way you can preserve some of more positive experiences you've had.
I'm sorry to hear you've had to give up on archeology. I know how much you enjoyed the subject but you can only do so much in one lifetime, you know?

Yeah, it's not intolerable so much as irritating and, well, stupid. So yeah, I'd rather pull out now, choose my playgrounds carefully and then have fun with that. I'd rather remember my years in fandom as fun and remember them fondly ( ... )

There are a lot of things here that I aspire to someday myself. Keep yourself in mind always.

I do hope to be able to continue to read - we have a great deal in common, and I've enjoyed reading your works and look forward to you realizing your dreams!

I think you made the right choice. Now you have to stick to it and not get dragged into other stupid things.
