I've heard of writers writing to other writers whom they admire and getting a response back.I don't know what it says about me that I LITERALLY never even thought of that. For one thing I think I was just assuming I'd never have a chance to get through to him; he's soooo much more important and busy etc. etc. (*insert sarcastic eye roll* And yet, a part of me definitely and instinctively believes that's true, even though I know better.) But - hey, I guess it's worth a try. And I'd better work on that letter to him for a while and make sure it's perfect; I'd hate to write to someone like that and get facts wrong (which I have, regrettably, done before... still burning in shame about fucking up when I wrote to Vonda McIntyre; have not yet ever had the guts to try contacting her again, and it's been 10 years) or worse, have typos in it or something

see if one of the places you write for (like ww?) needs someone to "cover his arrival". then nerd out, with a purpose and also with an "in". just be sure to ask enough questions that you get an article out of it, and don't have to publish your writing tidbits. ;)

I just looked up that book and it seems so much better than what I'd thought it was (I thought it was some sort of melodrama). Now I want to read it.
