The short version: My mom is in the ICU. I have strep. I am trying to chill out and relax before I make myself sick. Or sicker. Or whatever. ( the long version )
A lot of prayer is going to be directed in her general area, I'm sure. But yeah, let me know what you find out. Unfortunately, the saddest and most important thing is THERE'S NO MONEY. Unless you count my stepfather, and most of the time I pretend he doesn't exist. On the other hand, I'm sure that a large part of why they're still married is due to his excellent health insurance, so...
Oh, sweetie. I am so sorry. If it helps, my grandma has been in and out of the hospital, and oddly enough, my mom, the one who lives furthest away, is often called in to take charge, for some reason. I will pick her brain on this. I don't know what the status of your mom is WRT insurance, coverage, and the like, but I think that some PPOs will cover home health care. Might be worth asking him, which sounds like it may be difficult...
Oh, yeah, and also, Tom's mom was also having to help take care of her parents. (But there, contentious siblings were involved.) I will ask for her insight as well.
Regardin' your mom, if she is 65 and older look to the Area Agency on Aging in Denver. I work for the one in Ohio, they can help your mom. It is a medicaid based service, and you can talk to someone during the day, or send email in many cases. I will be thinking about you dearie, get better :)
I wish you guys a lot of luck with this, Jem... I hope your mom is okay. Please keep us all posted. :( And I'm sorry to hear about your strep... at least now it's diagnosed and can go away quickly though.
I hope your mother's hospital stay is restorative and that she gets better soon. The uncertainty of now knowing what is going on and the inability to be right there to help must be hard for you. I hope the antibiotics and Fruit and Nut bars do their magic so you can face the situation with strength.

Likely this will result in your mom getting prayed at, which is not bad, but not neccessarily super helpful in the pragmatic way.
