Sweet, you go girl. You need to enjoy life so I wouldn't feel bad at all if I were you. ^_^ It's great you got a good bed since that'll help you sleep better. I know what it's like to sleep in a bed of pinned needles. >_< Right now, I'm still sleeping on the twin bed I had since high school. So, er, yeah, congrats. ^_

I feel bad because now my financial ability to go see my brother and my mom is now cast into serious doubt. I used a lot of my tax-return money on the bed, and I hope to go to NYC this year too, and I also really need a better, newer computer - and now that I've bought I bed, I'm not sure that the money will be there. So I chose my own comfort over giving my mom the pleasure of seeing me for the first time in two years. I am considering getting a second job to be able to better pay for all these things; if I do, I have to give up writing, so I will feel guilty for not producing written work, as well as physically and emotionally bad because I'm not writing

As selfish as this sounds, sometimes you need to take care of yourself first. Everything else will fall in place eventually. Right now I feel selfish in using my mother's retirement fund and insurance to buy a new computer. But I know she would've wanted me to have one since I really need one.
Please don't feel guilty for not writing. Me and everyone else will always treasure your work and be your fans. Sometimes you got to do what you've got to do. That usually means setting your priorities straight and being realistic.
Hah, I figured it wouldn't be so easy. Not to mention, the copyright issues right? I think it's a wise move to think of where you'll be in the future by the genre you write. Most definitely, go out there and explore other things than vampires. I shouldn't be so greedy in wanting more and more of it. ^_^ But definitely, write what you want to write. And no, it ain't stupid to have more goals. It's awesome that you want to keep pushing yourself.
Whoot for you, buying a bed! It's a major investment but oh man. How you will sleep. The whole world will rejoice, trust me. A few years ago I sprang for a full-sized bed with a huge cushy mattress and lots of firm pillows and oh man. I just wallow in the squishy heavenly comfort of it every time I get a chance to sleep in.
I found out that my tour will take me through Portland. UHHH guess who's gonna take Jem out for lunch and a free concert that night? Hmmm? :D
And people who think you're "that vampire chick" will be super-surprised and pleasantly delighted when you publish something that does not concern blood, but -does- concern you being a badass writer. I am allowing myself the luxury of two months of unemployed-laziness pre-tour in order to set up my new office at my new house (!!!!) in Austin and focus on writing things that are not slashy fanfic. As much as people love reading about famous boys fucking each other's asses, I have a feeling that will not pay the rent.
Holla! Yeah, I live in Waco right now but I'm relocating to ATX. And yes, a Jemiah fan... I even stalked went to Portland for her book-launch party for A Drop of Scarlet, even if I did interrupt her reading-aloud session because I was lost in a Goodwill parking lot two blocks away.
