I even have to avoid the internets today, because everybody got their Heroes DVDs yesterday, with extra special deluxe this and that, and they're posting screencaps and recaps and reactions... Not only do I not have mine yet, it won't be the Deluxe edition... NBC/Universal screwed me, and anybody else stupid enough to pre-order the DVDs. Anybody ( Read more... )

Yep, there's a Deluxe standard DVD edition that can only be bought at Target or Best Buy, that they just announced would be available on Friday of last week.

I'd have just gone out yesterday and bought it (and then I'd send back the copy I bought from Amazon) but I didn't have the money to do so until midnight, when I got paid. And now it's too late - it's almost definitely sold out by now.

I may still do that, if I can buy a Deluxe one on the internets, but not until I have the standard ones in my hand - and I don't know if Amazon will take it back if it's been opened.

Deluxe Edition extras are another several hours of interviews, and some Tim Sale art postcards (that particularly burns me, as I love the Sale artwork). It's only $5 more than the standard DVD edition, too.

grrrrrrrr

I have all the episodes already downloaded onto my Mac, thanks to the Season Pass I bought. You'd be hard-pressed to convince me that it's worth it for me to buy the DVDs no matter what kind of special crap they put on there.

What I'm really looking forward to is next season.

I have all the episodes on DVDs already, too, but the "special crap" is the reason why I'm buying it. (Not to mention superior picture quality - torrented files are all well and good, but I can tell the difference in scan rates.) There's nothing anybody could say that would tell me that 50 deleted scenes and 6 hours of interviews, commentary, and production extras isn't worth it - so hey. I'm just a different kind of fan.

Six hours of deleted scenes?

Are we talking "director's cut" episodes here? That would be worth it for me.

director's cut episodes? terebi_me August 29 2007, 18:10:39 UTC
That's what I'm saying - then again, I don't really know. But 50 deleted scenes? That's a LOT.

I think (Jerry could back me up) that the HD-DVD edition can be watched with deleted scenes restored in place to the episodes they were taken from, plus the option to watch a single character's scenes for the entire series (soooo ideal, since I have been doing that with my boot DVDs all this time, when I need to follow a certain character throughout episodes to get a handle on where they are in all scenes, blocking, attitudes, postures, etc. - it's a fanfiction writer's dream).
