Oh, do keep it in mind as a possibility in the back of your mind.

You and dazzababe were two that I specifically had in mind.

And like I said, I'm planning to try and sort out a 2 bedroom apartment in Tokyo for the second week we're there.. sweet talk them and get them to take pity on me during our visit in Dec/Jan, so there should be plenty of places to sleep.

Anyway, totally understand if you can't swing it, but love to see you if you can!

Did I ever tell you how pathetic my 40th was, like my 45th, I was on a plane somewhere in the US on a business trip.. celebrated it about 3 mths late with a picnic in the Botanic Gardens in Sydney..which was nice.. but I reckon I have some making up to do! Woo Hoo!

Well, that's excellent then. We will both celebrate our 40th birthdays in that case!

And when you turn 50, we'll go back and celebrate again!

Hi, I found you through the fortysomething community.

Have you been to Japan before? I spent a week there three or four years ago and had a great time. My brother married a Japanese lady, so we went to visit them in Tokyo. We took the bullet train to Kyoto for two days. Kyoto has some really amazing historical sites. I'd love to go back again, A week wasn't nearly enough.

Hello! Nice to meet you, fellow 40 something!

Yes, we go to Japan all the time, because we (and especially I) like it there!

For the past 3 years we've gone there at Christmas/New Years with the exception of 1 year going to Shanghai instead, which was also fun.

It will be nice to finally be there not in the dead of winter, when I go with drstromboli next May, although Japan in winter does have a certain charm to it too.

Since we both like Japan and are both fortysomething, wanna friend?

How lucky you are to be able to travel like that! I'm jealous. It was March when we went to Japan. It had snowed in Tokyo the week before and everyone there kept saying it was "freezing". (It was nowhere near freezing.) Coming from here, where the temperatures really had been noticably below freezing for weeks, I thought it was warm there. I didn't need anything more than a t-shirt during the day. I got a lot of odd looks from my brother and the other people wearing coats.

And yes, friending sound good.
