I can see quirky and dominant...but if we're traditional, what in blue blazes counts as liberal?

Yeah, I think we must have answered "I send my kid brother home from the party with underage drinking" with a "yes of course". Maybe it has to do with having manners still? I'm very progressive, but I'm big on saying thank you and being thankful, and addressing others with dignity. Maybe that's my kooky traditional side!
