No one notices when a customer exits the tea shop and vanishes the moment he steps outside.

There are many things Joshua enjoys, and tea is one of them. Coffee isn't unpleasant on the palate, but his Producer is only a coffee lover and doesn't appreciate the delicate flavour of green tea like Joshua does. Reapers don't need to eat, and neither does Joshua, by extension. But Joshua doesn't care to hear their reasons for performing the uneeded act of eating.

He sits on the edge of 104's roof, enjoying the warmth of his cup of tea, unseen by the teeming masses of people below. They're still swarming across the Scramble, even in this freezing weather. Doubtless a portion of them are there to check out the sale on D+B clothing. Or some other equally mundane reason. Joshua holds his cup close to his lips, but doesn't take a sip, instead letting the steam caress his cold cheeks. People are a lot like ants. Always busy. Easy to dispose of a few. Difficult to crush them all. But also entirely different; people are inherently a selfish lot.

The Players often don't have the time to appreciate this, he observes as yet another Player pair are erased -- gone in silence, as many do in day one. And yet, Joshua thinks when the wall before 104 goes down and a Player pair stumble through, they have all the time they need to do just that. The frantic scrambling for another chance at life, clutching at what they can get from it. There is no time for sabotage.

Joshua has a fondness for Players. The Players in the end throw away many of the chains they place on themselves. People, on the other hand, keep them. Still do.

He takes a slow sip of his tea as the tempo of Shibuya shifts.

Some things just don't change.
