My summer reading

Aug 06, 2006 01:33

It was just a few short years ago that I couldn't name the last book I had read. I have since turned away from that shameful corner of my past.

These are the books I've taken out on Summer Loan from the public library (mixed with a few books I actually own):

Have you finished Self Made Man yet? I read it a while ago and really enjoyed it. Made me really think about men's internal lives. I think it made me appreciate how complex men can be. Men are not as simple as most women believe.

I am on page 104. It's a quick read so I expect to be done it by the end of the week.

Rub it in, why don't you?! thetical August 6 2006, 14:56:20 UTC
I have been derelict in my own reading, and I am ashamed. But now, I can blame my not-reading on the angst you have kindled in my heart. So, I have to thank you, I guess, for a new excuse.... ;)

Well... ok, if you'd like to take it that way! Or you could look at this as a challenge or wake-up call. Come on, thetical, I believe in you.

I actually started keeping a list of books I've read over the year, with the intention of looking back over it when I am nominated books for various awards. I've found that I enjoy looking back over my lists for their own sake and reconnecting with what I've read and what was going on for me when I was reading them. Of couse, the majority of what I read for fun is F&SF...

Yeah, notice the shocking lack of SF in that book pile. I think I'm going to concentrate on that deficiency in the fall or when the pile gets low (whichever comes first...)

I would be happy to supply some recommends for F&SF whenever you're ready.
