Thats right! 10000 signatures is not all that far away. As of a few moments ago we have 9481 signatures on our online petition. The good news is that there are also over 100 more names on a paper copy of the petition that was taken to the streets of the West End just recently by two very innovative fans.

Remember the decision to film Hamlet came a few months after the play actually closed.
this is not entirely true. John Wyver, the head of Illuminations which filmed Hamlet has said on his blog that he had conversations with Greg Doran during the very first week of rehearsals, so it was always a possibility that there would be a film. I do think that Macbeth would be the better example where the show had literally been over for almost 2 years before they filmed it, Patrick Stewart had done Hamlet and Waiting for Godot in the interim.
So, I think it should continue to be pursued until the point where they say either 'just not gonna happen' or 'we're on!' because post production decisions have happened, but Hamlet isn't really one of them.

It may have also been a way to test the waters--how well does it sell to determine whether people are ready to put their money where their mouth is, and is the DVD petition activity continuing or dead to determine whether people would be satisfied with just this.
