Well, I certainly understand where you're coming from in terms of being reluctant about the move from the Bay Area to the LA. Still, there is nature to be found down here too: LA is also ringed by mountains, though they are much dryer unless you go up quite a bit in elevation (but they're also much taller) and it can take some traffic frustration to get there, depending on where you live and when you go. But the possibility to get away from the city certainly still exists.

I hear you in wanting some stability and the privilege of being a participant in your own society. I'm honestly about to move away from home to do just that...AND live out of a piece of luggage for as long as I need to before some stable cash source can be found; South Florida has nothing more to offer me.
